Hi loves! I know how overwhelming and frustrating it can be when you first learn how to apply makeup. There are so many products, brands, and techniques to chose from, especially when trying to complete an Ariana inspired look. Ultimately, you may have trouble figuring out where to start. Whether you’re just starting out with makeup, or want to learn a few tips and tricks to spruce up your own every day makeup routine, this guide is for you!
The very first thing you need to know in makeup is that it is broken up into 3 parts: Eyes, lips, and face.
1.) Face:
Foundation:
Ariana has a very clear, smooth, and dewy looking complexion. To start off on this look, you’re going to want to use what’s called a foundation.
Foundation come in various forms, from pressed powders, liquid formulas, stick formulas, you name it. For an Ariana inspired look, I would recommend a liquid formula. If this is your very first time applying a foundation, it may take you a couple of attempts to get used to the feeling and application. Remember, practice makes perfect! To apply a liquid foundation, you can chose to apply it in with a sponge, brush, or even your finger tips!
My Favorite Foundations include:
Blush:
Blush is definitely a key component for any Ariana inspired look. For beginners, I would recommend sticking with a powder blush. A powder blush will give you the most control over an application (compared to a cream or liquid blush.) Lightly apply to the apples of your cheeks with your favorite powder brush for a beautiful rosy glow.
My Favorite Blushes include:
Wet N Wild Color Icon Blusher
($2.99)
ELF Studio Contouring Blush and Bronzer Duo ($3.00)
Contouring:
Ariana’s makeup artist applies a very harsh contour to her face. Contouring can be extremely difficult, especially for a beginner. As an alternative, I recommend warming up your face with a bronzer instead. Lightly sweep a matte bronzer into the hollows of your cheeks and on to your temples. This will instantly define your cheek bones and add a little color to your complexion!
My Favorite Bronzers Include:
Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer ($30.00)
NYC Smooth Skin Bronzing Powder ($3.59)
2.) Lips
For lips, I think it’s pretty straightforward.
Lip Liner: (Totally optional!!)
If you have lips that are on the thinner side, it’s super easy to give them a little extra help. Start off by using a lip liner that is finely sharpened and is the exact same color of your lipstick (if it’s darker, you’ll look like you just walked out of the 90′s!) Next, trace around the border of your lips. Trace very slow and apply light pressure to avoid any possible mishaps. Be careful not to overdraw too much, it’s best to stay as close to your natural lip shape as possible!
My Favorite Lip Liner Includes:
MAC Pro Longwear Lip Pencil ($20.00)
Follow up with any lipstick or lip gloss to finish off your Ariana inspired look!
My Favorite Lipsticks Include:
NYX Soft Matte Lipcreams ($5.99) (In the shades Tokyo, Milan, Addis Ababa, andSan Paulo)
NYX Butter Gloss ($4.99) (In the shades Vanilla Cream Pie, Strawberry Parfait,Maple Blondie, and Peach Cobbler)
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipcolor ($7.99) (In the shades Primrose, Pink in the Afternoon, Wink for Pink, and Certainly Red)
3.) Eyes
Ari has a very bold and dramatic eye look going for her right now. For beginners, start out with sweeping the same exact bronzer that you used to “contour” your face earlier into the creases of your eyes. Next, apply a heavy coat of mascara onto your lashes.
My Favorite Mascara’s Include:
Maybelline The Rocket Mascara ($7.49)
Benefit They’re Real! Mascara ($29.50)
If you want to use falsies, I recommend beginning with individual lashes rather than a full strip. This will make application SO much easier. Try focusing your individual lashes on the outer corner of your eyes to get more of a “fluttery” look like Ari! Any lashes or adhesives from from Ardell are excellent!
The End!
I worked super hard on this guide, so I really hope it helps out a little bit! Love you guys! (:
Xoxo, Nikki
